Dr. Clea Bourne
Dr. Clea Bourne is a Reader in Media and Market Studies in the Department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her current research examines how software shapes markets, people and society. Her recent work has examined the hype surrounding AI and its public legitimation, as well as the role of automation in everyday life. She has spent more than a decade researching financial markets and inequalities. Clea is co-editor of the Sage Handbook of Promotional Culture and Society (2025), Entangled Legacies of Empire: Race, Finance and Inequality (2023), as well as various monographs and journal articles. She is an editorial board member of the journal Economy and Society.
